Having cruised many times before but we had never cruised with Holanad America or to Alaska. Both were great. We boarded quickly and trouble free in Vancover. Our cabin was a average outside kept clean by room attendents and we were quiet happy with it. The service on the ship we found to be a cut above the average due to the fact most of the crew were of a similar nationality and all worked well together. The food was good as was the service. The ship was a little dated but we had such a wonderufl time in Alaska that we didn't notice too much. In Skagway we booked the train to Yukon Territory where the scenary was spectacular. This was the only day it rained a little but we were inside and there was only a bit of cloud, so the views were not spoilt. In Juneau we did the trip to the Glacier and the Whale watching. We were very lucky and came across a group of whales feeding together which was wonderful to see. The Glacier is definitley worth going to also. In Ketchecan we booked the Bear watch and nature walk, they also did zip wire tours threw the forest. This I would not recommend. We did not see any bears only one crow. It was very very expensive for a walk in the woods, which was not far from the cruise terminal. The scenic cruising around Glacier Bay is breathtaking. Two Park Rangers were also on board to give details about what we were seeing. We saw lots of whales on the way in the Inside Passage. We saw a bear feeding on a whale carcass on the beach and a deer swimming to the shore. The crew were excellent at pointing out anything to see from the bridge. The entertainment was what you would expect on a cruise. We didn't think we would enjoy Alaska but it is a wonderful trip. We thought Holland America was for elderly people but the cruise we were on was a very mixed age group with a large group of Australians. We will be cruising again with Holland America.

Quality of Food
Usually in the main dinning room, the food was very good service excellent.
The best entertainment was when I went to see how the magician did his tricks in crows bar and a whale jumped out of the water twice in front of the ship. Of course he took credit for this.
We enjoyed the whale watching the most. All were expensive though that was the down side.
Our waiter at dinner was excellent.
We tended to be out on deck during the day looking at the scenery.
We had to move cabins due to we had a guarantee cabin and were put in a disabled cabin but it was below the galley. We did complain and when another cabin became available, due to people leaving on tours, we were moved to a lowere deck and a credit given.
