My sister myself and our husbands have now completed 5 cruises in the last 3 years and have tried out three cruise lines. The one we like the best is Holland America, we have cruised three time with them and everytime it has been the Zuiderdam ship. We did Alaska, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean with Holland America, the Zuiderdam just happened to be doing the route we wanted each time. The only fort we found in the last cruise was that they had implemented open dinning which from our personal choice took away some of the enjoyment of getting to know the waiting staff of formal dinning. Afternoon tea was to die for. The cabins are comfortable, we had a Balcony, everywhere is very clean, all staff very polite and couldn't do enough for you. Shore excurtions a little expensive and often far away from the ship, we found it better on occasions to go ashore and do our own thing. Which is fine if a small group but not always a good idea if on ones own or just a couple. We are at present looking at a Panama Canal cruise for next year, again with Holland America but perhaps we will try a different ship as the Zuiderdam again would be like going home.
