Zaandam.
Stepping on board Zaandam gives you a feeling of " home again". It's the so welcome feeling created by the ever smiling crew.
No difference with other Holland America Line ships we have been on.
A two stories high peace of art decorates the main lobby and arcade. A Dutch organ, and as we experienced during sea day's : it play's tunes.
Our outside stateroom is bright and shiny clean , enough storage lockers, couch, bathroom with a tube. The two cabin Stewarts showed up and introduced themselves to us
and saying that if we need any help or had any questions they would be there for us.
Up with the elevator to the Lido deck , first glimpse of our fellow passengers, and a fantastic buffet lunch awaiting for us.
At that time the Lido deck is very crowded but the whole deck offers in and outside enough seating space.
Before you have noticed it's sailing time. All on deck for a well organized boat drill, and than we set sail for The Gulf of Cortez-Mexico.
On Zaandam you can make your own choice in dining , we were on for the open seating .
We founded out that you can book a table in advance which we did. So depending on the day's program we could fix our own dining time's every day.
Holland America line has depending on the cruise length several formal night's. A tradition , and it's appreciated by the guests as most of the passengers are dressed up those nights.
Also this cruise there was a such called mariners lunch. Special organized for all repeaters, and the dining room was again fully filled with those who sailed with Holland America Line before and have obtained a mariner status.
It shows that a choice is made over and over and over again for the concept of relaxed cruising with the best service and excellent food. No loudness, but for the rest all there is all to make your cruise a memorable one.
We attended a cooking lesson , did some water painting , attended a painting auction, had learned a lot more about wines in a tasting session, and that's not all because every day you have a choice in things to do.
Our whole cruise we had the best food on our plates , it does not matter where you eat, on Lido, Main Dining Room, Pinnacle Grill , all the best food is served.
Entertainment every night, small (piano bar) or huge at the ships theatre it's all there.
With only just over 1400 passengers never over crowded and plenty of comfortable seating space all over the ship.
We had a fantastic cruise on board Zaandam , and also here the" signature of excellence" to be found all around
