Early this year, during our Pacific cruise with Holland America, we stopped for a day at Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas (we wish it could have been more). Small island, not exactly easily accessible, but a place of great natural beauty, remarkable archeological sites and very friendly and kind people. Part of the island can be seen by car, part by boat and even on foot for those who are looking for some challenging opportunities. Roads are scarce and can be negotiated only with caution and skill.
Normally, we prefer to see places on our own, but we were lucky that we entrusted our program to Jocelyne from Jocelyne Henua Enana Tours (Te./Fax (689) 920 052), E-mail jocelyne@mail.pf or www.marquisesvoyages.com.pf). She knows just about everything not only about Nuku Hiva, but about Marquesas, is an excellent guide who speaks French and English, is very involved and helpful, and on top of all that, is an excellent and safe driver.
She is certainly a great asset to everyone who would wish to explore this unusual and remarkable island and we write this note
to help everyone who would wish to enjoy the maximum of this splendor and atmosphere. From what we saw, we know that capacity is limited, so try to contact Jocelyne as early as you can.
