This ship has very few reviews, I do not know why? This is my 37th Cruise in 22 Years 11 in a wheelchair. I have been on small and large ships. The Prinsedam Is a wonderful ship, for many reasons, its has wonderful history, once being the best ship afloat. I must admit there certain places that look a little tired, but still in very good shape. I am disabled with Wheelchair, I had cabin 225 on the promande deck.Perfect for main areas. The ship had 678 passengers starting at Tilbury London to Rome
.No Hold ups on checking in,cabins ready.
Most noticeable was no waiting for anything, lifts empty and no long wait, always places to sit in all rooms.
Food was excellent plenty of choice The pinaical the steaks were wonderful, a cover charge is added to you bill, I was lucky to be offered one night free, I understand because I have been with Holland America 5 Times. The lido very smart, not like the large ships, and evening meals are the same as the main restaurant,we had anytime dinning, we found it to suitable and did not have to wait no more than 10 minutes. The quality of the food was excellent. I could not fault it.The waiters could not do enough for you and very polite.one thing I was not too happy with is I know that 35% were from America, why do they serve all of that very fat and greasy bacon and sausages they eat, and should also serve English Bacon and sausages, as they do on Princess Cruises.
Tours Department, I found they were the only people that were not very friendly and helpful, we did 4 tours, all well organised, the guides good as well. I know they are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. As I have a wheelchair and I cannot walk very far,. I asked the tour desk if I could have a seat near the front or 2 or 3 rows back, on 2 of the tours they did not do anything,so I had to sit right at the back,.I asked them why he just totally ignored the question, as he made out he did not understand me.
Cabin 225 Disabled. Very big cabin, with big bathroom, the biggest I have ever had in 11 years. The television was a little small for the size of the cabin.DVD player was very useful with a choice of 1000 DVDs.The cabin boys were good as they always are The ships cinema although small had some good up to date films 3 times a day.
Entertainment. was excellent all British loved by the Canadians and Americans.Dancers and singers had to work hard as they were on every other night, but they were very good.
In the prospect of being wheelchair all of the staff could not do enough for me, I found a place in the Show lounge,I also enjoyed the calmness and friendly people to talk to and see them every day, not like the big ships never to see them again.I now think people like me are better served on smaller ships.Try this ship before it is retired.
