My second cruise with the Fred Olsen Line was entitled “Magical Adriatic”

Taking a second cruise suggests that the first cruise was a success – as indeed it was. The size of the ship, the numbers of guests and visiting the Caribbean felt just right. Flying to Barbados (in spite of a 7 hour delay ) and then boarding the Braemar, visiting 7 0r 8 islands including Cuba, a rare experience. For peace and tranquillity and sheer beauty of sky and sea it must rate high especially for artists and photographers. Cabins, food and facilities were fine, meeting some good companions and some surprising local people including a beachside wedding.

On our second cruise (Magical Adriatic) on the ‘Black Watch’ departing May1st 2009 I greatly appreciated the provision of a daily water colour class conducted by Mr Maurice Greenwood RCA , one of those rare water-colour masters so please could he be persuaded to join our next cruise to the Eastern Med on the ‘Balmoral’ L1018 from Dover on 26 Oct 2010. From the beginning the class standard was high with some dozen water colour enthusiasts – but after 2 weeks the daily attendance was about 50 crowded into the class. All work was later exhibited in the foyer - a great success.

I have not even mentioned the excellence of the food and restaurant service – and the high standards of the evening entertainment.

My only gripe on this otherwise excellent voyage was the vibration we experienced in our mid-ship cabin due apparently to an engine failure which did curtail our itinerary missing out two of the scheduled stops but which has been compensated financially.

So we look forward to 26th October and are enthusiastic ‘cruisers’. We like the reasonable size of the ships and would not want to embark with huge numbers of people and different ‘classes’ of restaurants.
