Just returned from the Amazon. Had a fantastic holiday. Friendly staff, wonderful food, hot weather and an amazing place to go. What more can you want.
We cannot fault the food. Breakfasts in particular were great. I could not think of anything that was not served for breakfast.
Hygiene was encouraged, by always being met with hand spray, whenever we approached a restaurant or returned to the ship. The hand rails everywhere were frequently wiped down by the crew.
Our cabin was small but adequate and always clean.
The captain was excellent. He always gave updates and kept us informed, as well as giving us 2 cocktail parties. He also joined in good naturedly with the crossing the equator ritual.
Excursions were good and not an unreasonable price, apart from one, and we couldn't decide why that one was nearly twice the price of others.
There was plenty to do onboard, simple games, like deck quoits and carpet bowls, bridge and lectures.
The lectures were interesting, The craft teachers were particularly good. We made beaded jewelry - the instructors managed to keep us interested and working for 8 seadays and we were all delighted with our resulting 8 items of jewelry.
Evening entertainment was good. The inhouse entertainment team produced frequent enjoyable performances. The comedians were not perhaps my cup of tea, but harmless. The entertainment teams organised meeting for groups like the WI and U3A - A good idea that encouraged meeting others. There was also a lot of effort made to help people on their own on the cruise, to find companions.

| Quality of Food | |
| We mainly ate in the Thistle restaurant - free seating during the day and second sitting in the evening. We have a theory that we eat less if we eat in the restaurant, rather that helping ourselves at the buffet. | | Entertainment | |
| We really enjoyed the in house entertainment. The dancers were fantastic. One of the male singers was unable to sing, so the other male singer worked twice as hard and was good | | Shore Excursions | |
| As this was an unusual place to visit,we were impressed with all the excursions.
The Boi Bumba Festival was fascinating, but it was very difficult for us to see unless we were in the front row. For a large audience you really need tierred seating.
The trip called 'Manaus golden era' was good, but cost nearly twice as much as other trips (eg the Highlights) and we could not understand why it was more expensive. | | Staff | |
| All the staff were helpful and friendly | | Children's Facilities | n/a |
| | Onboard Activities | |
| plenty of choice of activities. Sometimes a venue became too crowded - then they recorded the the lecture and you could watch it in your cabin. A reasonable solution, but perhaps it would have been better to repeat the lecture at a slightly different time. There were plenty of onboard activities through out the day. I am not sure that the tokens achieved and then traded for prizes were very satisfactory. Surely one prize token should have achieved some thing for you. Games, quizzes and library books were always available. | | Cabins | |
| Our inside cabin was very small. But it was adequate and there was room for hanging and drawer space. It was kept well clean and tidy, by our stewardess. | | Overall Rating | |
