A PERFECT CRUISE BUT TERRIBLE FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS. This is the fourth cruise with Fred Olsen and, as usual, everything came up to expectations. Our cabin was small, with two portholes, but adequate, clean and comfortable. Not luxury but we got what we paid for. The main lounges, the dining room, the service, entertainment and all the meals were first class and the same for everyone regardless of cabin location. We cruised to some interesting countries and the shore excursions were well planned, though expensive. The highlight was cruising through the Panama Canal and the ship has organised an experienced speaker who kept us informed of everything of interest along the route. We were able to visit the area including Panama City by coach on the previous day. There was some good entertainment including an excellent pianist and a genuine Caribbean steel band drummer. There were also the usual variety shows which were small and rather repetitive but,as it was so good to be on deck during the warm evenings, we often chose to listen to music there instead. The only downside of the whole holiday was the planning of the flights from Birmingham. We felt that these were unnecessarily long due to extra landings en route to pick up more passengers and yet more landings for refuelling. Check in time at 4.00 a.m. on leaving, and waiting time on departure was unusual for Fred Olsen flights and we shall certainly check flight arrangements more thoroughly if we do this again.
Quality of Food5
We ate in the main dining room for dinner and either in the more casual restaurant or on deck for breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed everything.
Entertainment4
We enjoyed the pianist, the on deck Caribbean drummer, the leading show singers, the sail away parties.
Shore Excursions4
All excursions were good.
Staff5
The Cruise director was very competent at keeping everything running smoothly. The Captain was very sociable and made his very important job look easy and enjoyable.

A wonderful cruise with a great itinerary and interesting excursions. The ship, food, entertainment, crew were all wonderful. Despite an almost full-house, there were always plenty of seats inside and sun-loungers by the pool. The only disappointment was going through the Panama Canal in the dark!!
