When we arrived in Sydney there was no meet and greet as we boarded the ship and we had to find our own cabin. First impression was that the ship was old and tired and did not have the grandour of the newer ships. The deck furniture, although not very attractive was remarkably comfortable and there was plenty of it. Our outside cabin was spacious with a big picture window and generous sized flat screen TV. This was well maintained by the cabin staff although the bedding was old and frayed and not attractive which made it look shabby. There was plenty of soap and shower gel and other toiletries in the bathroom and there was also tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin. Food was excellent although the timings were very rigid so if you missed the lunch time you had to wait until the next meal time. You had the choice to be served in the restaurant of go to the Palms self serve buffet. The average age of passengers was 70 years and the entertainment was mainly geared up to this age bracket, string quartets, carpet bowls, deck quoits and afternoon tea dances. We were disappointed with the entertainment as there were only a couple of west end type production during the 4 week cruise, other nights were filled with a comedian or crew shows. I have to say there were some very talented members of the crew. There was a large library and plenty of seating inside and outside. Many ships do not have enough chairs on deck just the sun loungers. The ports of call were amazing although we did seem to arrive late everywhere. Many people rebook for the next year but this was not our ideal cruise ship or company. We would book again if we could not get the itinery on a more modern ship and the staff were all helpful and friendly.
