As it was our first ever cruise we were a bit apprehensive about procedures. We need not have worried because everything was so simple. From arrival at Southampton to disembarking at the end of the voyage it was all very easy and straightforward. The boat itself is very good and the crew, every one of the ones we encountered ,were second to none in service , politeness and friendliness. The food was perfect for my wife and myself. My wife being vegetarian was very pleased with all the options available.
The entertainment each evening in the excellent theatre was very good and the lectures arranged on sea days were first class.
Organisation at each port we visited was very good. We had heard various reports about the trips and how non-tour passengers had to wait so that the others cleared the vessel before they could get off. There was none of this and the shuttle buses were excellent both going to the town centres and returning to the ship.
Most of the ports are readily accessible via the shuttles so the only trips we took were the ones at St Petersburg. We were slightly disappointed with 'The panorama of St Petersburg' tour as there were so many Buses and people around at all the short stops it was a bit difficult getting good clear photos.
We did find the drinks on board a little expensive but we were aware of that before we booked so it did not come as a big shock.
All in all a very good holiday and we hope to repeat it in the near future!
