We were looking forward to our cruise on Queen Victoria with eager aniticipation. Embarkation is a dream these days - with staggered arrival times, there were no great queues and we were onboard within 20 minutes of arrival at Southampton having gone through all the security formalitities etc. We had Princess Grill accomodation, which was very spacious and comfortable. The whole Princess Grill experience was superb from the the small Queens Grill Lounge, to the Grills Restaurant where we had a window table for two, the Grills Terrace and exclusive Upper Terrace with exceedingly comfortable loungers - for us it was a pity there were not a shaded area, the only way to get out of the hot sun was to be in the shadow of the funnel. It really needed an area with a large awning. The food, service and welcoming friendliness of the Maitre'D downwards was absolutely superb - always time for a chat and a laugh, and the timing of the service of the was just right, not too long and not too quickly. We particularly liked our wine waiter's trick of carrying 18 wine glasses in one hand!!! The Queen Victoria is an immensely elegant ship the interiors are sumptuous - particularly the Queens Lounge, The Royal Court Theatre (we had a box one evening with champagne and chocolates - highly recommended) and the numerous bars and coffee lounge around the Atrium. We found the Lido Buffet to be very good for breakfast and lunch, never too much queueing - the only thing we don't like is self service tea and having to fiddle around with teabags. One minor disappointment about this ship is that there is not a wrap around promenade deck. Where did we go? - oh some interesting places, but that did not really matter - it was being on the ship that counted, the ports of call were a bonus.
