CUNARD NON FJORDS!!

The Queen Victoria is an amazing ship, beautifully decorated, comfy, etc etc, however we found it just that bit too posh!even the cruise director was a very nice but slightly too posh lady, which i suppose created the rather stuffy atmosphere. The entertainment was awful,we have never had such "unentertaining""entertainment!we thought we were going on a fjyords cruise, however we only actualy saw 1 fjyord, the Gerainger, which was amazing,we were hoping to cruise through at least 3 fjords, really should have studied the itinerary closer. As usual the Cunard service was good, however the food in the main restaurant was a let down, and rather rushed!!We personaly felt we had paid way over the odds for that cruise/itinerary etc and wish we had gone with a different cruiseline.

would tend to agree with you regarding entertainment, been on qv twice and entertainment is poor, no ifs but or maybe. Time the UK premier cruise line did something about it. Part from that, no Alastair has no opposition there!!! Was in Princess in Dec, needless to say had no problems with sun in northern europe although would feel sure the good staff of Princess would move heaven and earth to please. The good man Kev, is just the best wine waiter ever, great team, makes this a 5 star plus retaurant, which it is. Can't wait to get back. Peter Lockhaer, Ayr. Scotland.

I went round the world 2009 on the Queen Victoria (108 days) and joined every excursion at each and every port. I would totally disagree with the comments made. However I would suggest that anyone considering cruising on this ship should really ask themselves, is this the ship for me. If you want Butlins afloat you are not going to get it, nor would the majority of cruisers want it to be like this. It is horses for courses and I must confess I met some passengers who were not happy on the ship but the real reason was that quite frankly the majority of these were totally out of their depth and to put it mildly were a pain in the neck to those that had to listen to their whinging (no, not Germans but British). Everyone should read the Cunard brochures carefully since Cunard are explicit about the ethos of their ships. Not everyone wants to flip flop about with shorts at breakfast etc. and a lot of people like dressing up for the formal evenings as they appreciate the elegance.

Port out, starboard home is the POSH life for me and the day Cunard lets this formality down I would be looking for another cruise line (any suggestions?) Last year we were trailed by The Ventura (P&O) in every port around the Baltic, and they certainly appeared to be enjoying themselves for we could hardly hear the Victoria's music by the mega blast from the Ventura as they paid tribue to us. They certainly had a good selection of pop sailaway music which we enjoyed from our balcony at a distance-BUT NOT FOR ME!! We enjoy formal nights and yes, you do meet some so called posh people but who are as friendly as any other "class" of people-just take them at face value. One lady on the QE2 one year complained to my wife that standards had fallen due to the number of "Northerners" on board. I had to apologise to her for having to dash off because one of my whippets had escaped with my flat cap, "by gum and by heck!!". No sauce and milk bottles on the table and a decided absence of formica and paper table cloths and I still can't balance my peas on my knife! So I look forward to my posh and elegant evenings on Cunard and rubbing along with the great and worthy, which could be me?? (or you?)

Try the fjords or the North Cape on a smaller ship that can get into interesting places.. Geiranger is the most spectacular of the fjords, but there are many more attractive places in Norway. I love the Lofoten Islands and it is one place where the ships tours are excellent.
