QUEEN VICTORIA ,last november...Southampton to Venice and back, via Palermo,Dubrovnik etc...The positive side was the entertainment...lectures,shows..all superb.Service on board very good everywhere. However the food in Britannia restaurant was plain ordinary...Plates with your food put in front of you...we had to ask for a few extra vegetables,water@3.5 dollars+15%...tap water available but not provided unless you ask for it.Five black tie evenings,God only knows why!!!!Excursions on shore prohibitively priced! Wine list had items @1000 dollars+...but very few good wines at reasonable prices...and 15% on top. Adequate selfservice restaurant up @the Lido where food was better..you could get a fresh pizza with any topping in6-8 minutes.Altogether no more than 7out of 10.Disappointing from CUNARD!

We were on the same cruise and enjoyed the formality, our table for 6 all commented on the good food and one even was given double portions of meat each evening.Iced water came automatically at every meal. The vegetarian in the group was able to choose from a separate menu.Fruit bowl in stateroom. We had plenty to do each day, computer courses to deck games and a wonderful music programme. Our stateroom was immaculate. Agree that shore excursions are expensive, but isnt that every cruise line?.

Sorry you were disappointed - just a comment though on the five black tie evenings - Cunard is known to be very formal so I cannot see why you were surprised especially if you had checked the brochure! I love the formality but have just returned from a Costa cruise because my husband fancied a week without his dinner jacket which was our choice. As they say horses for courses! Carry on cruising.
