We had never cruised with Cunard as we were always wary of a cruise line that still segregated passengers depending on the class of cabin they booked. So we decided to take advantage of one of the three night cruises on the Queen Victoria as a taster, we booked a balcony cabin (thereby restricting us to the main restaurant only and prohibiting us access to the Grills) and I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. For starters it is a beautiful ship, the food was excellent, although we did get the impression that the waiters were a little stretched and did not always have the time to give us as high a degree of personal service as we have experienced on other cruises. We particularly enjoyed taking Afternoon Tea in the amazing Ballroom, and the entertainment was of a good standard. It being such a short trip it was difficult to actually make use of all the facilities available as we did not have any full days at sea, but we certainly intend to go Cunard again. Many experienced Cunard travellers recommended the Queen Mary 2, so perhaps we will try her next.

Glad you had a good time - I cannot understand the fixation about the so called "segregation" onboard Cunard ships. All ships have different levels of accomodation and you pay your money and take your choice. As to the restaurants there is a pay to eat restaurant onboard Cunard ships if you wish to pay the extra for what is considered by some to be superior food in the same way that you can pay extra and book a grills cabin which will entitle you to the grills restaurants which again many say will have superior food (I have never been in grills so cannot comment). Most of ship is used by everyone at every level although and don't forget that all levels of passengers share the same theatre, casino, pub, etc so the grills passengers more often than not have to mix with the passengers in the Britannia class even though they have paid an enormous amount more for their cruise - think how they feel! So do try QM2 as she is spectacular although personally I prefer Victoria as she is easier to navigate around. Loved QE2 (just saw her being stripped of her dignity in Dubai) and am looking forward to the new Queen Elizabeth. I love the formality on Cunard so they are my favourite cruise line (have tried others) but everyone to their own. Whatever cruise line you use - enjoy!
