We booked our Transatlantic crossing on Queen mary 2, during 2008. 7 days sheer bliss. Our flight departed from London airport flying to New york. We stayed in new york for few days before joining our ship Qeen mary 2 in new york. We were all excited to be on board this ship, as this was our 2nd visit to this ship. we had enjoyed our previous cruise the year before on the same ship. So we now has a pastexperience on board this excellent ship. From the moment we arrived at the ship checking inn, the whole process was easy and did not take up much of our time. as soon as wewere on board we found or room. Even the cheapest cabin on board, we found comfortable for us as a family of 3 people. We were quick to find our way to one of may eating restaurants they have on board. Next we wanted to check the facility for our teenage daughter. At first she was reluctant to join a kids club. so we just registered her there. within the next day we took our daughter to the kids club where she made friends with teenagers her own age. This was a good choice as we did not see much of her for the rest of the trip. she was too busy socialising with her new group of friends . we sometime saw her at meal times . if not then just as she wanted to change or come back to sleep. she has kept in touch with these friends from usa and the uk after she returned home. This left us so much time to discover the ship for ourselves. we also made friends with some people and amasing we didnt see much of these people who we had spoken to. as there was around 2-3000 passengers on board the ship, to our surprise the ship wasnt too busy. with so many different places to visit. we had time to relax after breakfast. but the facilities on board for people to do their fitness were the best ive seen. listen to music while keepig fit. or take a quick walk outside walking or jogging around the ship. while other people enjoyed sitting in deckchairs. we took a swim in the our door swimming pool, we could have just as easy relaxin one of 4 jackusie out side. there i another swimming pool with a retractable roof in cooler weather. si its still warm or just enjoy reading with a drink. we wandered into the library which i hear is one of the best libraries ive seen on board any cruise. they also had some computers in there. again a nice place to read or just look out to see. The decor around the ship always looked great carpets etc are always looking perfect. we were able to watch a few different movies in the cinema for free . the planetarium was excellent we watched a show of the stars. there was afternoon tea in the ballroom, where live music was playing. ther are still many quiete rooms to discover with surprising only a few people around.we had our dinner in the britania restaurant around 8pm. this was folled by an evening entertainment, we enjoyed some really top shows . catering for different tastes. then into one of many bars for a quick night cap drink before retireing to bed. sometimes we went to the disco or sat to listen to the resident band who played music every night, alongside other entertainment. for gamblers there is the casino for a quick flutter. for the ladies who need pampering there is the spa treatment or hairdressers. the number of shops were suitable for everyone if its nice souverneirs to take home clothes or jewelry they had. Everything on board from the experienced well manered staff on board made our cruise a holiday. but for others just a way to get from A to B. we enjoyed our trip so much we extended our trip from southampron to Hamburg and back to southampton.

we are doing this same cruise in july and taking our 16yr old daughter thought it would be a chilling time for her after 3 days in NY shopping and also after her hard slog at the GCSE's in the summer its so nice to hear your own teenage daughter enjoyed herself as some people have commented that my daughter might be too young to enjoy it? I'm thinking they may be of the 'dont like children' brigade myself. Thanks for an enjoyable review.
