Our cruise started in Basingstoke when my brother took My wife and I to Southampton. The check in was fantastic although everyone kept informing us that it was taking a long time. Once on board we were totally blown away what a fantastic vessel. The experience just got better upon reaching the cabin and going onto our balconey to watch everything getting loaded. After eating one of the numerous meals and seeing fantasic shows we would retire to the cabin for a superb nights sleep. On the first day my wife got a little sea sick and went to the ships doctor who gave her some medication which corrected the sickness almost immediatly. As we were just cruising past cornwall at the time I was a little concerned that this cruise could be a bit of a problem for her knowing that the atlantic was ahead. I should not of worried as that was the last time she felt ill. On day 3 the captain informed us that we were heading into some 'boistorous' weather conditions. Little did we know that this meant force 10 gales and extremely high waves with the catain then informing us that it was the worst conditions he had cruised on for 6 years on the QM2.
The QM2 was marvelous and dealt with the conditions as if she had just brushed them aside and seen it many times before. The staff and facilities on board were first class and just have to be seen to believe. I must of put on a little weight due to the consumption of food which was just as well as we only had 2 days in New York to see the sights.
The disembarkcation in New York was a dream very smooth well organised and it made us wonder my we put up with all the hustle and bustle at airports.
Cruising is the way forward for us and we will be back
