This was our second Cunard cruise, having visited the Baltic the year before on the Queen Victoria. Comparisons were inevitable. There were many similarities between the ships but we preferred the Queen Victoria - it seemed classier and it felt as if lessons had been learned from the Queen Mary and improvements applied to the Queen Victoria. The biggest disappointment was the quality of the entertainment; there were one or two interesting lectures on the Quuen Mary, but there were many more on our Queen Victoria voyage and the evening entertainment, both in the bars and the theatre was more varied and better quality on the Queen Victoria. It may be because this was a 7 day cruise as opposed to the two weeks we spent on the Queen Victoria, but there was much more to do on the Queen Victoria.

Having said that, this was still an excellent trip to the fjords. Beautiful scenery, interesting ports of call and the comfort and luxury of a fine ship to return to each day.

We ate every evening in the main restaurant and found the food and service to be excellent, though we were unable to find a wine waiter on the first evening which was a shock to the system.

One of the highlights of the cruise was a visit to the galley. Seeing the scale of the operation of preparing food for lunch, dinner, canapes for the bars, etc. was fascinating and proved to be a very popular activity with passengers.

Our cabin was well appointed and we find the balcony is a great place to relax and have a drink or snack late in the afternoon while watching the world go by.

We have just booked a cruise on the Queen Elizabeth, so we will be able to review all three of the current ships in the Cunard fleet.

Quality of Food
We ate in the Brittania Restaurant every evening and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

The entertainment was largely disappointing. It was mainly cabaret type performances, though one or two acts were very good.

Shore Excursions
We only booked one excursion with Cunard and it was cancelled. When we went ashore, we were able to take the same trip (a boat into the fjords to see Pulpit Rock) at a lower price!

Our waiters were both excellent - friendly, helpful and professional.

Children's Facilities

Onboard Activities
We did not find that many activities to interest which was surprising when compared to the Queen Victoria.

The cabin was exactly what we expected - a decent size and very well appointed.

I agree. The Queen Victoria being a smaller ship is much easier to navigate and therefor more user friendly. We sailed on Queen Victoria from Southampton to New York before embarking on the QM2 to sail from New York to Sydney last year. I had read so much hype about the QM2 and can only say that I was very disappointed when we boarded her. Our next Cunard cruise will be on board Queen Victoria,.

If you like the Queen Victoria Then you will love the Queen Elizabeth in my opinion she is the best of the 3, I have been on them all many times & the Q.V & Q.E are easier to get around than the Q.M.2 She is a liner & is more suited to crossings than cruisers which she is excellent for But for cruisers it has to be the Q.E.
