Although this was our first Trans Atlantic cruise it was our eleventh cruise.
We were a little early for the initial check in but it was not a problem and we thought the staff were courteous, prompt and efficient. We were shown straight to our cabin which was spotlessly clean and our luggage arrived within 30 minutes, never have we had such quick service. Our trip was Southampton to New York for the first leg and New York to San Francisco for the second leg. The first seven days the weather was very mixed but there was so much to do and something for everyone, with onboard lectures excellent and varied. The Brittania Restaurant never failed to please whether you had breakfast, lunch or dinner, with the waiting staff first class. Our waiter Avish and commis waiter Tatianna
were superb and deserve this special mention. Having lunch in the Golden Lion Pub was just like at home with a good menu. There was 24 hours room service at no extra charge which was first class. Ports of Call included Fort Lauderdale; Grand Cayman; Cartagena Columbia; Punteranas, Costa Rica; transit of the Panama Canal; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and San Francisco. There were plenty of varied excursions which were good but a little costly compared to our previous trips to these destinations. Some of the entertainment very good but we felt that there was an excess of string quartet music when there could have been a greater emphasis on music from the caribbean area. One item I must share with you was trips to the Launderette on deck 6, it was always busy in the morning but there was one eccentric lady who seemed to spend her whole day taking advantage of the captive audience and even brought her breakfast in with her, not forgetting her photo album and her friendship cards, it was very entertaining and the talk of the ship. The laundery service is free of charge. Our cabin attendant was great and couldn't be faulted. Disembarking in San Francisco seemed to be the most stressful part of the trip due to the sheer number of passengers leaving the ship. This was without a doubt the best cruise we have ever been on and we look forward to our next trip
