We wanted to cruise on QE2 before she left for her final resting place in Dubai. This is a glorious vessel with all the grandeur you would expect from Cunard. The Queens Room and the Crystal Bar were very elegant, but service and bar stocks were disappointing in the latter venue. Although a little dated she is an elegant ship, very comfortable and certainly something special. Cabins had seen better days but given there were only a few cruises remaining before her retirement this was hardly surprising. Our cruise to the med was very enjoyable, visiting the usual ports such as Rome, Gibraltar, Lisbon and the like. The food was good with plenty of choice but for those of us who like the plainer things in life there were limited options. Unlike P&O or Celebrity Cruises standard plain steak, chicken and salmon were not readily available at dinner. Entertainment was very good particularly the shows with a fantastic dance troupe. What I really like about Cunard cruises is the traditional formality with all passengers dressing for dinner; really smart and what I think cruises are about. It is so good to see people make the effort instead of settling for the casual look. All in all an enjoyable cruise and although I had enjoyed the QE2 experience previously I am so glad that I took the opportunity to do so again.
