This was our second cruise on Queen Victoria, having done a short cruise of similar itinery last December. We had booked a guarantee A7 balcony cabin with $900 of on board credit, after booking we were upgraded to an A5 balcony cabin (number 5181). Embarkation at Ocean Terminal was swift and efficient and we were on board by 12.30. Our cabin was ready so we dropped off our hand luggage and had a quick look round, we've not had a balcony cabin before and were more than pleased with the additional space it provided. Yes the bathroom was small, but it was more than adequate.

We ate lunch in the Lido, as we were early on board it was not very busy and the food was plentiful and hot, it was good to see hand gel being dispensed by staff, so many people tend to not use it when its left for "self use".

Our luggage arrived just before muster around 1625.

We then tried out a couple of the bars and started using our on board credit. Sailway was a bit of a muted affair, the band Changez were brilliant, the sailaway champagne was expensive once you add on the dreaded 15% but we still managed a few of the small bottles between us!

We had booked second sitting, table for 6, in the Britannia Restuarant and were delighted to find ourselves on the same table as somebody who frequents a couple of the other cruise forums that I go on, along with another lovely couple. We really enjoyed their company, so thank you Gerry, Keely, Matthew and Bev for making our cruise a very memorable one.

We found the food and service had improved since our last cruise on Queen Victoria, waiters were attentive at dinner, but not over friendly, the bar staff we found to be very friendly and chatty. Lunch in the Golden Lion was delicious!

We are keen dancers and lovely doing ballroom and latin (badly I hasten to add) in the Queens Room, however this time we were not overly impressed by children messing about on the ballroom floor and nobody doing anything to stop them, when you are trying to dance its not very easy doing a quickstep whilst trying to dodge little sweeties. Come on Cunard, get your act together on this one, it should be adult only space in my opinion, apart from on party night...speaking of party night what a damp squib that one was. Cunard don't have any decent hosts and the atmosphere for both this night and the black and white ball night was almost non existence (comparing again to last December, where we had a fabulous time on both these nights).

We did hit bad weather in the north sea and the ship did list, there were lots of broken glasses and crockery apparently and a few passengers were so worried they spent the night by the pursar's desk, a little extreme I think, but each to their own! My trusty Stugeron did the trick and I got through the night without feeling unwell.

Afternon tea in the Queens Room is delightful, but I do wish they would give clotted cream rather than the squirty stuff!

Disembarkation was straightforward and we were on our way home by 0945.

Overall we had a fantastic time, enjoyed the dancing (bar the problem children), the dress code seemed well adhered too, apart from on the last night when we spotted lots of pairs of jeans in the Commodore Club despite all the literature stating jeans were not permitted! The food was lovely, the staff were great and we can't wait to get back on board in December when we will be trying out the Princess Grills for the first time.

Yes,I agree with all your comments, that's a very fair review. We were in the theatre when the ship listed quite violently, and one of the singers fell off her chair and was quite shaken, followed by the musicians music stands toppling over, and even the champagne bucket in the box next to ours fell over which was distressing to the couple who'd paid over $50 for the box!Mannequins in the shops and stock was strewn across the floors, but I think all the damage occurred in the one incident, otherwise the ship coped well with the rough seas
