Were we unwise to book 30 days for our first-ever cruise to mark our joint 75th birthdays? Our doubts were banished from the moment we were welcomed aboard the Marco Polo after a remarkably speedy, hassle-free joining procedure at Tilbury and taken to our cabin to be joined within minutes by our luggage. From then on we enjoyed all that the ship had to offer – a comfortable, clean and spacious cabin, with plenty of storage space, so well looked after for us by our delightful stewardess. The food was excellent, well presented and served by efficient, friendly, and helpful stewards. We enjoyed the ‘occasion’ of dining in the Waldorf restaurant but sometimes opted for the buffet-style of eating in the Marco restaurant on the Magellan deck. Thanks to Richard Sykes, the excellent and ever-present Cruise Director, there was a wide-ranging daily programme of talks and interesting activities, but the entertainment highlight for us were the superb west-end standard stage shows in the evening. Many thanks Marco Polo for a very happy cruising experience which exceeded all expectations. Jean and Stuart Williams
