I really enjoyed my recent Baltic cruise on the Marco Polo. Richard Sykes, the Cruise Director was excellent, enormously energetic and created a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the ship. The nightly dance/singing shows and the magician were also outstanding. Good selection of other entertainments on board. Good keep-fit facilities.

Cabins were comfortable and spacious enough. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful, including the restaurant staff. Food was quite good but not exceptional. Unfortunate that tea and coffee had to be collected outside when eating in the self-service cafe on the upper deck.

Excursions, expensive but very enjoyable and well organised.

Only negative, smoking in one half of the lounge/bar meant that the total area was soon full of smoke.
Quality of Food4
Took most meals in the seated dining area. Took full English breakfasts, salad, soups and fish dishes, various puddings for lunch, same for dinner. pm sandwiches, cakes, etc for afternoon tea. Once or twice late night snacks. Least taken meat dishes.
Entertainment4
Most enjoyable show - Joseph and Techni-coloured Dreamcoat. Comedian also excellent. Least enjoyable solo male singer singing Dean Martin songs
Shore Excursions4
Best St Petersburg. Least Helsinki and Poorvoo but not bad.
Staff5
Richard Sykes, involved in so much on board. Extremely energetic, appeared to love every minute of his job, nothing too much bother, very approachable and conscientious, welcoming to all, full of fun and interesting, knowledgable, and very talented.
