To start with I must say that this was our second cruise experience. Our first was a cruis down the nile with African Safari and I wrote a review on this which was an excellent cruise.
Having had this experience we decided to take a cruise in the Persian Gulf starting and ending in Dubai and calling at Muscat, Fujarai, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.
The ship is Italian and is mainly crewed by a mixture of Italian, Thai, Indian and Phillipino. The crew were very good and were responsive to all our requests especially the Cabin Boy who was excellent. The cabins were a reasonable size.
Having said all this why am I complaining.
Firstly the food was typical of mass cooking and reminded me of my service in the army mainly Italian cusine. There was two sittings for the evening meal we had chosen the second sitting. The noise in the Dining room was unbelievable and on one night we were assualted by Pavaroti at full tilt. Breakfast was quite good with a good choice of both European and English cuisine. The other restaurants on the ship were often themed but we only used them for lunch, when the food was reasonable.
Drinks were I believe rather expensive and attracted a 15% surcharge.
The entertainment was aimed at the Italians with shows in the theatre every night.
We did not take any of the excursions, but we did go ashore at each stop. The only stop that I would recommend was Abu Dhabi.
I have to say that if this is what cruising is all about I will not be going again.
Quality of Food
Main Restaurant mainly Italian
Entertainment
Again aimed entirely at the Italians
Shore Excursions
n/a
Staff
This would refer to the Cabin boy who was excellent. The remainder of the crew were only interested in the Italian travellers

I was on this ship at the same time and can agree with what you are saying. Don't let that experience put you off cruising. That was my 10th cruise and have 2 more to take this year. Enjoy another cruise company - not Italian
