First time with costa after P&o,NCL andRoyal Caribean.Ship is very large with 3800 passengers. The staff were trying hard but were tired out working 8 or 10 month contracts with no days off.The organisation and administration were of Italian chaos and problems not immediately resolvable were " not my problem".The buffet .communal spaces and lifts required all our mauling and rucking skills.I found the Italians arrogance and inability to queue quite amusing in the end.I live in Spain so am used to latin temperament but this was something else.Overall the food was reasonable and the restaurant service good. The english host informed us prior to disembarking that we could win afree cruise by completing a satisfaction survey. He pointed out that satisfactory = excellent and a winning survey had excellent ticked all the way through. If you are looking for acheapish value for money cruise and like butlins at sea, then this is for you,but beware as in all cruises the cost of extras.I peronally will stick to NCL followed by P&O and Royal Caribean.
Quality of Food2
Restaurant to avoid the push and shove.Dinner had 6 or7 courses, good variety but nothing special
Entertainment2
First show was staff performing like x factor.Remainder of shows like curates egg.Plenty happening on board to suite most tastes
Shore Excursionsn/a
Expensive. We did our own and enjoyed them.We had the flexibility we value.
Staff2
Mixed bag of staff. All were tired out.Cabin and restaurant staff good but admin staff poor.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities2
Plenty to do but more choice on other cruise lines
Cabins2
We were given disabled cabin as ship full.Cabin shower room large rest smaller resulting in limited wardrobe space.Select cabin carefully as can be very noisy from entertainment and other guests keeping very late hours.
Overall Rating2

I am sure you must be in shock at the sinking of Concordia. I note what you said about the staff being tired out. Most of them will be out of a job now, and it was heartbreaking to hear that their hard earned money had gone down with the ship. Who will make it up to them!

Yes most well mannered people across europe can never understand why the Italians seem to have this pushy attitude as we found our on MSC Cruise. Of course since your review has been posted Concordia is no more than a ship-wreck lying on its side on the rocks. Its a terrible accident which was waiting to happen and im sure it will come out that the crew were responsible for the disaster. It must have been unbelievable on board at the lifeboat stations and I hope it raises lots of questions about safety particularly on Italian registerd ships where its "every man for themselves". God know how only a few died its a miracle , 10 more yards and it would have gone to the bottom quickly.
