Good at sea but not for transfers

We have just returned from another successful cruise on Celebrity ‘Solstice’. Excellent weather, good food and good entertainment completed the picture, only marred by, once more, Celebrity’s organisation on land. When will these companies learn that sub contracting transfers may be cost effective to the company but first impressions count and they must get a grip on their external contractors. Many rang ‘Celebrity’ and were told ‘will ring you back’ and never did. Eventually they got a taxi.
I and another guest asked the Hotels concierge to ring, which they did and they did not accept ‘will ring you back’ but said they would hold. Ten minutes later we were told they were sending a coach and eventually it arrived being diverted from Fort Lauderdale airport. No matter what many will say, we pay good money to Celebrity for transfers and they must therefore take responsibility. Just refunding taxi fares is not acceptable.
And then we have the Hilton Marina at Fort Lauderdale the overnight hotel. Nice hotel in a beautiful setting but what have they done to the restaurant. Sold it off to a private company. The breakfast was cold and appalling and at the equivalent of £20, expensive. I complained at the desk and they said ‘it’s a private company and nothing to do with the hotel’. I complained to Concierge who were more helpful and said ‘yes’ the breakfast in the hotel is very poor but if you walk a quarter of a mile up the road there are restuarants there who serve a much better and cheaper Buffet Breakfast. Just what are we coming too with large Hotel chains such as ‘Hilton’ hiving off parts of their business to outside contractors and saying to guests ‘nothing to do with us, it’s a private company’.
