Cabin: Balcony Occasion: Honeymoon
This cruise was booked for our honeymoon, so it had to be special. we booked a aqua class stateroom and it was well worth it for the embarkation which took less than 10 minutes to get on the ship, aqua class staterooms embarkation was with the suits and not with the rest of the rooms on the ship so it was great! The hotel the night before the marina in fort lauderdale was very nice had a lovely walk around in the morning watching all the boats go past and a fisherman which my husband loved. The bus picked us up at 11.30 to go to the ship.
First impressions of the ship was that is was very fresh, open space sort of feeling, the paintings and attention to detail was by far the best i have come across on a cruise ship. Our room was not ready straight away so we went around the ship to have a look and was very impressed!! The buffet was very good, best buffet we have had on a cruise ship, a lot to choose from. you could have your own stir fry made up with what you wanted in it, fresh pizza, seafood, burgers, salads, Curry's you name it they got it. It was a big buffet area with a lot of room to move around, plenty of places to sit and eat. Also what i liked as being British and we like our tea they had tetley tea bags! Our room was a good size room, bigger than most balcony cabins. With aqua class we had a few extra bits in the room such as welcome sparkling wine not champagne but better than nothing! fresh fruit, canapes every day, towelling dressing gowns, shopping bag and purse with celebrity cruises on also another bag for towels and stuff, smellies from the spa, with lip balm, face spray and few other things. What we really liked was the fact they gave you 2 free big bottles of water every day, saves having to buy them. The bathroom was a big space, the shower was great really good shower the aqua class room had a hansgrohe shower which had massaging things that shoot out at you & was a powerful shower. There was a lot of cupboard space in the bathroom for all the toiletries, good lighting also. The only thing that let me down about the room was the space for clothes did not have enough space for all our clothes. the draws were very small could not hardly fit anything in them. The wardrobe was small not a lot of hanging space. The tv was good watched a few new films for free, some you had to pay for we did not bother with them. Ordered room service a few times for lunch in the room to relax after coming back on ship. Sat on the balcony eating our food which was lovely, also had breakfast to the room most mornings, breakfast was really good to the room had everything you wanted from toast to cereal, and full cooked breakfast. The balcony was a good size with two good size chairs and stools and a table.
Food on the ship was very very good. We dined in the blu restaurant most nights as we had a aqua class room, and it is well worth getting a aqua class room just for the blu restaurant, it was wonderful.
The food was really good, really good choice of food and not to heavy and rich as i imagine the main restaurant would be.
Staff were really friendly and helpful, also they gave us a honeymoon cake & sung happy honeymoon to us in the restaurant. We could go at anytime to the blu restaurant never had to wait.
WE also tried all the speciality restaurants .
The first one we went to was silk harvest the Asian restaurant. I love this sort of food it is my favorite and cook a lot of it at home, so was a little disappointed with the food, the starters were nice small bits of everything.
The main was about 3 or 4 different dishes and i found them very salty, they were spoilt by to much salt.
The desserts were fab !
The 2nd restaurant we went to was the murano, the most expensive of the lot. The food was very nice it was 4 courses but also we had a little sample which they give you aswell it was only small.
i had goats cheese for starter which was lovely, then a crap soup which i found to rich, for main i had fish which was prepared in front of me deboned. For desserts we had samples of different desserts for 2, well presented in shot glasses on this wood and glass thing. I would go there again food was excellent.
The 3rd restaurant was the tuscan grill, my favorite of the lot.
Food was well worth the money really enjoyed this restaurant.
Had calamari for starter beautiful really well presented in a basket with paper around it, for main i had sea bass which was lovely, and for dessert well i was suppose to have one but ended up with three as i took so long to decide which one i wanted. was not expecting 3 desserts i did eat it all.
The buffet food in the day was very good lot of choice and so was the room service.
The evenings were good, not as good as maybe a British ship would be, i find American ships a little on the boring side and everyone seems to go to bed early ! Maybe this is to do with not so much entertainment after a certain time on the ship, i think they need to improve on this! The shows with the dancers were good, not so keen on the comedians they are more for the Americans. The singers they had on the ship were very good, and there was a girl group playing instruments which were good also. There were some lovely bars on the ship our favorite was the ice bar & quasar nightclub which we made good friends with the 2 bar tenders there who were really funny and really talkative, could never get away from them .
The ports of call were ok not the best we been to.
We did the ultimate Caribbean cruise.

Grand cayman,

we got off after tendering to shore which was very good, we went shopping, was not to happy as the map said the shops were just up the rd from us but because we had not docked the right side, the shops were actually 20 Min's away which they had not told us. So we got a bus to the shops they were ok not anything to special .Getting back on the ship was no problem waited about 5 minutes in the row to get on the tender boat and back on the ship.

cartagena, Columbia

We only got off the ship to have a walk down to the end of the pier where they had a shop with local products . Did not really fancy this place, and glad we did not bother as a lot of people said they were disappointed when they went out around cartagena not a nice place.

Colon panama,

My husband went on a fishing trip here on the canal and really enjoyed it, did not catch big fish but was a good trip with nice people.

Puerto limon, Costa Rica,

We both went a trip here to see the sloths and a canoe ride.
I loved this trip the sloths were wonderful, really interesting hearing about them and how a lot of them ended up in the sloth sanctuary, they are doing a brilliant job there in looking after these animals. We also had a canoe trip here which was fascinating, really loved this was so relaxing just sitting in the canoe watching the wild life pass you.
Glad we done a trip here as did not fancy doing anything on our own here, very run down and sounds & looks very rough.

Roatan, Honduras,

We went to the beach here did it ourselves, got a taxi with a few others off the ship and got the taxi to pick us all back up a few hours later. The beach was very nice lovely warm day, water was very warm and calm to swim in.
we sat on our towels did not bother with beds as u have to pay for them. There was people coming around trying to sell you stuff but they did not really bother you and as soon as you said no they left you .

Cozumel, Mexico.

Weather was pretty rubbish here was raining, really windy. we decided just to get off and look around shops did not bother doing anything else. The weather was so rough the ship was banging against the dock which made it rough when we were docked as soon as we left Mexico it was fine.

Disembarkation was not very good they give you numbers and you have to wait to go off but people were leaving before they were told and they were not checking peoples numbers which left us with people in front of us who had numbers which were way behind ours. we had to wait a hour and half to get out of immigration, which is probably the longest we have had to wait. they were very slow in Miami ! & not very organised on the ship.
Took us to the wyndham hotel by the airport because our flight was later, we went to the dolphin mall as i wanted a guess bag and they have fab guess shops in Miami. much cheaper than on the ship!!

Had a fabulous cruise and would definitely go back on a celebrity cruise again. The ship was wonderful, staff were brilliant and food amazing.

We are on Eclipse in August, have read about dining in your room, just wondering if there's a charge for this? Sounds great fun onboard with 'celebrity'.

Answer by Flipping, swansea (12 Mar 10 13:53) to a QUESTION by jackson (11 Mar 10 18:37)
We drunk a lot of cocktails & wine. The beer was anything from 4 to 6 dollars Wine was about 6-8 dollars a glass Cocktails were about 6 - 10 dollars Not sure about spirits didn't drink any. sorry. I hope that is a help. We found it expensive to drink but i think that is what it is getting like on most ships now.
