We have just recently returned from our first cruise on a Celebrity cruise ship the Eclipse. The boarding on at Southampton was quick and efficiently done Cabin:- Excellent, clean, comfortable and quiet. We had an Aqua class cabin, we decided to have a bit more luxury. Cabin steward Marc , was very helpful, polite and always cheerful. He kept our cabin very clean. Food:- we ate in the Ocean view quite a few times , always for breakfast, and a couple of times for dinner and lunch, ( if we didn't have breakfast) We normally ate in Blu Restaurant, on the whole it was ok, the first time I had New York Strip steak it was delicious then the next time tough and the third time, couple on next table said to te waiter it was the worst steak he had ever had, seems I wasn't the only one. The last formal night it wa a special Lobster. I was really looking forward to it, when it came it was stringy and tough, I complained to the Asst maitre D, he did ask me how my meal was so I told him. He proceeded to try and lecture me on how to cut lobster,I told him I had had lobster many a time and did not need lessons. I did not like his attitude, but that is my only complaint about the staff. All of the others onboard were very friendly, polite, could not do enough for you .The food at Tuscan was excellent we only ate there once. I object to paying for speciality eating especially at $40-50 extra each. We got this half price before we go on board . We had champagne tea in Murano's that was very nice.Selection of food in the Ocean View was excellent and on the whole good. The Cafe Bacco was very good as well, if you could get a seat. it did irritate me somewhat people just sitting there reading with no drink!Mixology Bar was fantastic, cocktails made by Alexander, a very charming and funny young man Entertainment:-We only went to the theatre once. it wasn't really our cup of tea. We didn't go to any of the classes, but did go to the fantastic Corning Hot Glass show, a lot! to see Ryan, Taryn and Carl play with hot glass, very entertaining and these glass blowers are very talented. Highly recommend! Think Celebrity need to get more entertaining pass times for when you are onboard, napkin folding, mr. and mrs. and Bingo are really not for us, but I suppose someone must like it, they just need a broader selection. Luckily we had superb scenery and I just loved watching that!. Excursions:-The excursions were a bit expensive, and some not great. We did a lot, but not Flam, or Bergen . We know Bergen very well. We have been on the Flam Railway many years ago, so it wasn't too much of a disppointment that we did not get tickets. We did enjoy the Whale watching on the first day and did see Minke whales and puffins. This was at Reykjavik. We have been to Reykjavik before and had seen all the Geysirs etc but not whales. The trip to Herdalseter was great to the cheese farm where the Hairy Bikers had been was great, but not enough time there!. The trip to the Glacier Centre , and lunch at Skei, which was excellent, made even better by the lovely Italian Guide we had called Anna, very interesting and amusing! The hotel at Skei laid on a lovely kaldt bord Buffet, Norwegian food, reminding me of my late mothers food( she was Norwegian). Drink Packages:- We thought the drink packages were a bit steep but took one out for cold drinks/coffee/water. We actually found that at the end of the cruise, we could have saved ourselves about $80 paying it daily! Would not do that again. The cost of having Internet on board was sorry to say a rip off. Quite a few complained , us included we only looked at our emails twice very quickly to delete them. We did not complain perhaps enough! I wouldn't bother again with it, learned our lesson. Also no ironing room and we needed to iron our clothes , very helpful receptionist helped us out.I'll bring clothes that don't need ironing next time! We overall had a fantastic holiday even with the few minor irritations. Eclipse is the cleanest and best ship we have ever been on. We have been on 6 cruises , this was the first Celebrity. I understand from some of the passengers we spoke to on the ship that they had noticed cutbacks, the amount of staff, food quality etc , The staff were all very poilte and helpful and friendly, which I have not had on a lot of other cruises. I think the Customer relations is very good, they have all I think had courses on how to treat passengers, but some areas of the ship the Spa, I think they are a bit pushy. Go to get your hair cut and then have the hairdresser trying to get you to buy $300 of products really annoys me.We would go back on this ship or the sister ship. Hopefully next year, it was a fantastic holiday! We really enjoyed Celebrity Eclipse, and hope it will be the same standard next year!

Except for the few times we had not very good food in Blu, tough steak and tough lobster food not always hot as it should be! the rest of the time good food in OceanView, Cafe Baco, Tuscan italian Speciality restaurant excellent
Went to theatre once it, was ok
The least favourite excursion was the Akureyri to Godafoss, and Botanical gardens, it was not worth the money. godafoss lovely . Best Excursion was at Geiranger to the Glacier centre, Glacier, Boysebreen, Skei for lunch and the various stops on the way, guide was excellent!
Cabin Steward marc very efficient and kept our cabin nice clean and tidy, could not do enough for you. Lady at reception helped us regarding our ironing, she was exceedingly helpful
Not enough activities onboard. Sorry but a bit boring , napkin folding! Mr. and Mrs. Bingo. The best onboard activity was the Corning Museum of Hotglass who had shows on nearly every night! Could not get enough of that! More interesting activities required. !
Our cabin was lovely clean, comfortable bed, which is a must! spotless. Big enough. Position of the wardrobe a bit awkward, but manageable. Bathroom beautiful and great shower. Toiletries everyday.Cabin big enough.
