This was our first time cruising and we decided on Carnival as we felt it was good value. Our party consisted on myself, husband two daughters (14 and 12) and both sets of parents.
The check in at the port was quick and efficient and we where soon on the Lido deck enjoying some lunch.
Our balcony cabin was available very shortly after and we found it to be bigger than expected, very clean and an extremely comfortable kingsized bed.
Setting sail from Miami was fantastic, cars sounding their horns as we sailed out of the port. Very memorable.
The food in the Washington Restaurant was excellent. We used the room service for breakfast and the lido for lunch.
On deck during the day, the only thing I found frustrating was the lack of shade in the main areas around the pool. This meant we had to seat in the noisiest area close to the speakers and the musicians. There are areas of shade along the sides of the ships but these areas are very quiet and away from the action.
All members of the crew where very friendly and always had the time to ask about our day.
We thoroughly enjoyed the itinary and thought Roatan was beautiful. Our best trip was swimming with the manatees at Cozumel which we arranged independently from the UK - extremely good value for money and memories that will last forever.
Overall we had a fantastic first cruise with Carnival and we will definately be sailing with them again. Yes other cruise companies maybe considered a step up from Carnival but for us the extra money would be better spent on coctails!!!!
