Just returned from our first cruise, not only with Carnival, but first cruise ever. There was a party of six (3couples) and we did back-to-back cruises out of Miami on the Triumph. Western Carribean 1st week, Eastern Carribean 2nd week. After all I have read prior to departure I had gone with an open mind of what to expect. Maybe some people just expect 5 star 5 star 5 star on cruise. We had booked Balcony Cabins. They were brilliant, plenty of storage, good size rooms, comfortable and clean. Balcony was icing on the cake, option to chill out whenever you want. Cant' see the point in going to sea and not being able to see it!
The ship was great, plenty of options to choose where you wanted to drink (we had a couple of smokers) and they were well catered for. The Dining was very good in the evening the staff made the whole trip more enjoyable. They couldn't do enough for us. At the daytime Buffet could be busy at times but you cannot feed 2800 people in a minute, we just chose our times carefully. Were on holiday why should time matter. It is a fun ship and there was plenty of opportunities to join in whatever you wanted to but if you just want to chill out then there are plenty of places to do so. The Islands got better each week and we would definitely return to the Carribean. We had some problems with Carnivals booking changing without notice but I have took this up with them, waiting for a reply. Overall I would give Carnival the thumbs up and the Tiumph is a nice ship not dated at all as stated in some reveiws. Ray & Ann Slater, Rotherham, England
Quality of Food4
The Late Dining 8.15 was good for us the food was excellent and always served quickly. We were in the Paris the first week and the London dining room the second week. The daytime buffet could be slow when busy, some items could be cold. Just go back and get some more. The breakfast buffet was good, they served until 12.00 noon.
Entertainment2
Entertainment was ok. The evening shows were acceptable we didn't expect top show, but then again we only went to tree or four in the fortnight.
Shore Excursionsn/a
We didn't book any excursions through the ship as we felt they seemed expensive. We got off at every port and did our own thing. Wish we had took a couple of trips now as we would have seen more of the islands. Went to Dunns River amazing.
Staff5
Johnson, our room Steward was brilliant, did everything we asked and looked after us well. Always very polite. As were all the staff. William the Casino Manger who was from Liverpool made us feel very welcome and made a point of having a drink with us when he got off duty. Our table waiters both weeks were very good and gave us great service.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities4
There was plenty of choice of activities but as we were a party of six we tended to make our own daytime entertainment during the day, we did watch some of it and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Cabins5
Yes, I am so glad we booked Balconies, they were great roomy, airy with plenty of light. Plenty of storage. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was roomy. I am 6'4" and expecting the shower to be small but there was plenty of room.
