We boarded our Carnival ship in New-York!..We had just sailed accross from Southampton on the QM2, stayed one night in the Big Apple then we set sail bound for the Caribbean on our Carnival ship.
The Miracle is a large ship, but after coming off the QM2, she is not that big!, I think the ship would be best for the more younger cruiser, its very glitz and glamour!, quite loud in places (in decor and clients)!, One huge plus was that the cabin we booked (a balcony) was huge, much bigger more than twice the size of the Mary, and at far less cost.
The food on board was ok, large amounts of just ok food, dont get me wrong there is a wide choice on offer, but nothing to write home about, it seems to be an all you can eat attitude on board, and what you cant eat just order anyway!, i lost count of the times i walked to our closest lifts and there were trays full of wasted food, people were ordering 6 or 7 burgers and a bucket of fries!, but this is not to do with Carnival.
My wife and i have cruised with P&0, Royal Caribbean, Cunard and now with Carnival, im sorry to say especially RCCI and Cunard are so far ahead of Carnival its scarey!...Would not book with Carnival again, if i just want an "ok" holiday i will go to the Costa's. The other problem i had (and this is only an observation) The staff are so nice, but so scared!!...our waiter spilled a little wine on the table and he went to pieces and was petrified that i would tell the head waiter, he said sorry a million times, i thought he was going to have a breakdown!..He said that if there are any complaints thats him finished!...All in all im just not sure about Carnival, if you can go with Royal Caribbean you should, they are much the same price as Carnival, but far far superior!
