My wife and I attended a family occassion on Anna Maria Island south of Tampa Florida for the 1st week of our 2wk holiday-
our plans were to try and "fit " a cruise in to our 2nd wk. The only one that was available at or near our location was C.
Legend from Tampa itself. We have cruised before (11 various) and have a good idea of what suits us. I was able to book
a balcony cabin (4221) on deck 4 at I believe to be a good price - no flights as we were already there !
I had some reservations as to "fun/party ships of Carnival altho` this was to be 7 nights cruise which apparently makes a
difference. We did book and check in on-line which was`nt any problem and joined the throngs of fellow cruises on the
day. We were at the dockside early and got on the ship fairly quickly considering the crowd but what a sight for the eyes.
Not really for British tastes, in my opinion garish, gaudy, tacky but good quality fittings and spotlessly clean. The cabin was
clean with good quality woods and a good size - the balcony was, I think the smallest we`ve had so far but was
adequate with two chairs(one reclined slighty)and a side table, which really need replaced. The bathroom was about the
best we`ve had so far. We did have the graturities (added for your convenience ?) removed. We had no problems with the
ship itself nor the staff/crew, all were very pleasant and polite. We took the 1st sitting dining and altho` asking for a table
of 6 we were allocated a table for two, of which there were plenty, maybe not the best one but we managed fine. Menu
was a bit confusing but the food was good.
Drinks were a bit dear in general. The buffet restaurant for breakfast and or lunch was fine altho` food could be hotter
on some occassions. Plenty of "free" water/lemonade/orange juice and ice cream on the go.
The entertainment in the theatre was excellent but can`t really give an opinion as to the other lounges.
Nor, can I give any advice as to the excursions, the ports were so so, we did get off the ship; the Grand Cayman being
the best, Mahogany Bay was fine, not much in Belize or Cozumul - you really have to be into sports, of which there are
plenty. Not a lot of shopping(for the wife). Of course that could be a good thing.
A good feature on ship, the photo shop etc is always dear but what we found on board were 3 seperate photo machines
for your memory cards to edit your photos and the photo shop will print them within 24hrs - 22cents a photo - extremely
good deal.
A bit hectic on disbarkation but ok
To end, would I take a Carnival cruise again possibly yes, but it would have to be a good deal and our choice now would
be back to Europe.
