My husband and I enjoyed a cruise and stay holiday in Orlando in February 2009, which joined the Carnival Legend on a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon in Tampa, Florida. It happened to be Superbowl day but the transition from Tampa airport to the Seaport was smoothly undertaken with no hassle to ourselves. The ship holds 2000 passengers but never appears to be crowded and its crew managed to process people’s luggage easily, with it appearing in our cabin in the early evening.

Having sailed on the Miracle from Tampa two years previously we noticed that the age group on this cruise was considerably older. We had an inside cabin on Riviera deck which was spacious and had a high level of décor. Although there were two set dining times there was also an ‘anytime’ dining plan where you could turn up when you wanted to dine and if a table wasn’t available they would give you a pager to carry and page you as soon as one was available. We found this very useful as we are not used to having to eat at a set time.

The first day on board was a day at sea followed by a Formal Night, including the Captain’s Cocktail Party. Passengers were encouraged to sample free cocktails at the party and dance to the nine piece orchestra.
The first production show of the week was on in the theatre, but in our opinion it was not worth seeing!

The next day was the first port of call, Grand Cayman, which was reached by tender. The crew are very helpful when getting you to and from the shore, and Carnival take every opportunity to take photographs of you when you reach the shore. A speciality of this Island is the Tortuga Rum Cake, which is delicious and doesn’t really weigh too much to take back home (I know as I did it!!)

The following day we docked at Cozumel at the pier, we booked a tour on ship, Segway tour & snorkel, although we didn’t want to do the snorkel part.
We didn’t think there was enough time spent on the segways, but did enjoy ourselves.
Entertainment tonight was not much better, although the band had moved to another room and they were worth watching.

Belize was the next port of call; we spent ages before anchor was dropped, as the weather was poor.
We tendered along distance to port, having got there, we asked ourselves, why did we bother?
After all of 15mins we went back to the ship.

Isla Roatan, off Honduras was the final stop of our cruise.
The island looked lovely, lush and green.
We got off, wandered round port and then got back on ship.
The port seems very new and not many shops there.

Final day on ship was at sea, very windy across the Gulf of Mexico, but still warm.

Disembarkation was easy, although very slow and started early.

In conclusion, a very enjoyable cruise, very relaxing but seemed a lot of older generation on the ship.
