My wife and I joined the Azamara Quest after an overnight stay in Athens. This was the first time we had been in a smaller cruise ship and we were impressed with the facilities and the friendliness of staff and passengers. Because of inclement weather, we missed out on our first port Ochios but this was more than compensated for an extended stop at Istanbul. What a wonderful, colourful, exciting city it is. We had spent a week there earlier, so we were able to revisit the places we had been to - especially the Grand Bazaar with all its spices and sweet meats. The highlight for us both was the visit to Ephesus with its Biblical connections. One can only wonder at the sophistication of this ancient civilization. At the other ports we visited in Turkey we had a flavour of the local markets and of rural life in Turkey. We also visited Cyprus, Alexandria, and Sorrento.
The food on the ship was of a high standard and the service excellent. We both used the excellent gym facilities (which is essential to wear off the sumptuous meals). The cabin was of a high standard and the cabin staff polite and helpful. The shows were remarkably good considering that it was a small ship.
All in all we both enjoyed this cruise immensely. We liked the informal dining arrangements. However there were one or two trifling annoyances. Why do they sell you water as you are going off on a shore visit. Surely after paying hundreds of pounds for a cruise, a bottle of water should be part of the deal. We liked the inclusive tipping deal.
We would thoroughly recommend this cruise ship and the particular cruise.
