The moment we boarded the Azamara Quest, the welcome felt genuine and meaningful. From a Balcony cabin (which was excellent), we were upgraded to a Sky Suite which was outstanding for comfort and floor space. With a welcoming bottle of bubbly and a bowl of fruit (renewed daily). Service was great specially, from our butler who tended to our every need. But the friendly service from every member of the crew could not be surpassed. Afternoon Tea served in your cabin every day. Sailing in a smaller ship was a wonderful experience. Because there was no queing for shore tenders, restaurants or scambling for tables in self service buffet. Also it was good to go into ports the larger ships dont visit. On this ship we got to know greater number of people and the crew all had a friendly greeting. The officers went out of their way to br helpful and friendly, with time for a chat. Captain Carl Smith was brilliant, a young man who made it his task to do everything possible tmake your cruise a memorable one. He even stopped the ship one evening to close to the island of Strombolli to let us see the volcano being active.
Food, three restaurants, two of them speciallity restaurants. Also self service buffet. The quality of food served was first class, probably the best cruise food I have experienced in eight previous ships and always piping hot. We were given three free nights in the speciallity restaurants, which was great. Entertainment was good, maybe not the glitz of West End shows but very enjoyable, of good quality and professionaly performed.
All in all I have never experienced such a friendly, well run ship and free from any hastle. This young captain, Carl Smith deserves a great deal of praise for this cruise being such a wonderful experience to all who sailed in her. The only down side to the holiday was at Heathrow. The BA flight was 06.15 and BA insisted you must appear at the terminal three hours before flight time, which we did. Only to find no one manning the check ins etc. till 05.00 what a waste of time. Finally I can safely say this has been the best cruise I have ever taken. Well done Azamara cruises.
