Azamara Club Cruises - Adventure of the Seas

Adventure of the Seas

One of the five Voyager class ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet, the Adventure of the Seas is a mammoth vessel that can carry more than 5,000 passengers and crew. Feeling more like a floating city than anything else, the craft offers a huge range of activities for the entire family.

Royal Caribbean International is an American-based cruise line that has been providing ocean-bound entertainment for more than 40 years. Today, its fleet comprises 42 ships of various sizes that service destinations around the globe.

Food, cuisine and dining

The main dining room is set on three levels, with each one named after a different composer: Mozart, Strauss and Vivaldi. Breakfast and lunch are available for open seating, while passengers will need to opt for early or late dinner service before they board - although it may be possible to amend the arrangements during the cruise.

If you'd rather not feel stuck to a set dinner time, you may also opt for My Time Dining. This is a feature offered on all Royal Caribbean cruises and allows diners to change the time they eat dinner to suit their schedule - although reservations are still necessary. To enjoy this benefit, you will also need to pre-pay your gratuities.

Of course, there are plenty of other options for hungry voyagers. Many are included as part of your ticket, while others will incur an extra cover charge. Choose from:
• Windjammer Buffet
• Island Grille
• Johnny Rockets
• Cafe Promenade
• Portofino
• Sprinkles

On-board entertainment and activities

There's plenty to do on-board the Adventure of the Seas, with various shows, a casino, live music and dancing, as well as activities like bingo, poolside contests, art auctions, educational presentations and arts and crafts lessons.

For adults looking to unwind and enjoy a favourite drink or a night of dancing, there are a number of bars and nightclubs to be found on the ship.

Bars include the Imperial lounge, which has an Asian theme, as well as the classy Connoisseur's Cigar Club, the Duck and Dog British pub, the Gravity sports bar and a Champagne bar. The Aquarium Bar and the Schooner bar are two other popular establishments.

The Jester's nightclub has a gothic theme and is decorated with an ornate arch motif, wooden doors, gargoyles and torches on the walls. It generally plays an eclectic mix of tracks, all set to a dance beat.

Alternatively, for something a bit more low key, why not check out the Blue Moon Jazz Club? Located in the Viking Crown Lounge at the top of the ship, you'll enjoy spectacular views while you sit back and relax to the sound of some soulful music.

Remember that on all Royal Caribbean Vessels - no matter what the departure port - the drinking age is 21. For 18 to 20 year olds travelling with parents on vessels that depart from European countries, the parents can sign a waiver, giving their children permission to consume alcohol.

Spas and fitness facilities

If you're looking for a bit of pampering, head out to the Steiner spa for a rejuvenating treatment, or a bit of a workout on the exercise machines. Alternatively, there's an ice skating rink, a nine-hole golf course and a rock climbing wall for a bit of extra exercise.

There are three swimming pools on the Adventure of the Seas. Two of them can be found, side-by-side on Deck 11. These are quite large and perfect for an energetic swim or a bit of water play. There's also the Solarium pool, which is for adults only and offers a more tranquil setting. You could also choose to soak up the ambience in one of the liner's six hot tubs.

Cabins

In total, the Adventure of the Seas has 1,557 staterooms in various sizes and featuring a broad scope of amenities. In fact, there are 22 different types of rooms to choose from, enabling passengers to find an option that perfectly suits them, their family and their bank account.

Whether you're seeking a suite or a more basic cabin, you'll enjoy a flat screen television and en-suite bathroom. There's the choice between ocean or promenade view rooms, with or without balconies, or you could opt for an interior room with no view at all.

One thing that guests travelling on the Adventure of the Seas often comment on is how warm and inviting the hallways between cabins are. On many cruise ships, this area can feel rather sterile and unfriendly, but on this vessel, they are colourful and sometimes feel like a quirky art gallery, with fun and whimsical paintings and other works.
