The Largest Cruise Line in the World - Oasis of the Seas!

Set to launch in late 2009, Oasis of the Seas will be the largest cruise liner in the world to date. The ship is designed to have a unique blend of imagination and innovation, with areas onboard such as Boardwalk - where families can enjoy an experience inspired by the traditional seaside piers whilst encountering the more modern twist of an overhead zip-line.

Other amenities on the cruise ship include an amphitheatre at sea - AquaTheatre, which will incorporate a large freshwater pool with a large array of activities and performances available for guests. Royal Caribbean’s signature Royal Promenade will be redesigned to ensure cruisers can enjoy Central Park - the neighbourhood announced for the ship in April.

“With our history of introducing game-changing amenities, we’re pleased to be able to answer the question of ‘what could possibly come next?’” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman & CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “We are particularly excited about the neighborhood concept which gives guests compelling choices and the ability to flow seamlessly throughout the ship to meet their individual desires and preferences.”

Oasis of the Seas will be the largest cruise ship in the world - she will span sixteen decks, encompass 220,000 gross registered tons (GRT), carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,700 staterooms. It will be the first ship to tout the cruise line’s new neighbourhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which includes Central Park, Boardwalk, and the Royal Promenade.

Ships this size are designed with young American families(with kids) in mind. The same people who will stand in line for 2 hrs. to catch a ride at Disney theme parks in Fla. -are the ppl they want, and will get. I don't stand in line 20 mins. for ANYthing!

as a regular cruiser over 35years i fear these latest ships will get too big and carry too many passengers, the main problem in my view to cruising is the time it takes to get on and off ships in the various ports and the more passengers the longer it will take. I would however love to see this ship . derek blatchford, exmouth
