Farewell QE2!

Cunard’s QE2 beached on a sandbank yesterday morning before sailing its final ever cruise. It was pulled off after half an hour under a dramatic firework display, to sail into Southampton waters on a voyage to Dubai, where it will become a floating hotel.  

A million poppies were dropped over the ship by a Falklands War aircraft to commemorate the ninetieth anniversary of the end of WWI. Thousands of cruise fans lined to the docks to wave goodbye and Prince Philip made his seventh visit onboard to meet the crew and wish QE2 well.
