Oprah Winfrey splashes out £1/2m treating 100 staff to lavish cruise
Chat show queen Oprah Winfrey has staked a claim to the world's best boss by taking all her staff on a lavish cruise. She has paid more than £500,000 to take staff and their family on an all expenses paid 10 day cruise around the Mediterranean. The billionaire employs more than 100 people at her Chicago based TV production company which recently featured an interview with the parents of missing toddler Madeleine McCann.
Winfrey, who has a personal fortune estimated at over £1.5billion and an annual income of over £200m is know for her generosity. Four years ago she arranged a trip to Hawaii for all her staff and agreed to pick up the bill. Travel experts said the cruise was costing approximately £3,500 per person. Winfrey will join her staff on the cruise which includes stops in Italy, Turkey, Greece and Malta.
What ship do you think they'll be on? Would you like to be on that cruise?

Oprah must be a super duper boss and get the best out of her dedicated staff. if only other bosses showed their thanks to their staff for all their hard work they would more than likely get more out of them without having to push them. Most bosses only think of the money they can get through pushing people until they are stressed, nervous breakdown or heart attack and I doubt they would care unlike Oprah she gives them something to look forward to gives them 10 days of relaxation and shows she VALUES their work and friendship. Pity there is not more people like Oprah.

We were on Norweigan Jade in March we were told that she had commissioned one of their ships. I think it is the Norwiegan Jewel. She has paid to take over the whole ship and the cruise will not be on sale to the public. We were told this by a member of staff who was due to work on that cruise.

I wish I worked for her, she knows how to treat people, not like numbers, other employers should follow her example, and make peoples lives worth living. I am sure she gets her value back by the dedication that her staff will show her, intelligence is the key here, she can understand how people would not be able to afford to save for these treats because of their commitments and makes sure that they get these treats anyway. Good on her.
