Tours of the bridge, galley, laundry and backstage theatre are to be offered to cruise passengers sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line.
The opportunity to glimpse ‘behind the scenes’ will cost $55 for two hours or $150 for a full seven-hours.
The tours will take place once per cruise on sea days on every ship in the fleet.
They will take in the galley to see meals being prepared, backstage of the on board theatre, the laundry and a visit to the bridge to meet the ship’s captain.
The extended tour also includes sushi making and sake tasting; a group photo on the bridge;Lavazza coffee; pre-dinner cocktails in one of the ship’s lounges and dinner with a glass of wine in Cagney’s Steakhouse.

Unbelievable and staggering that NCL can even think about a charge to see behind the scenes. Passengers who take this behind the scenes tour must have too much money to spend if they think that $55 for two hours for a glimpse of a ships laundry room is good value!!!! Hello!! Can they not glimpse that this is just another way to winkle more money out the passengers pockets!! What next to beat the credit crunch? Charge for the jugged water maybe as MSC Cruises do!!!

As an Ex Merchant Navy Engineering Officer I would very much like to see the Engine Room of a modern Passenger Liner to see how things have changed from 40 years ago. Whenever I have made enquiries on past cruises I have always been told it is not allowed on safety grounds. I would certainly pay for a decent tour of this area providing the charges were not extortionate, but it makes you wonder if this new change of heart is merely another money making scheme and the previous refusals because they could not be bothered?

Further to my recent cruise aboard Norweigan Star; I think NCL are out to make a buck out of passengers anyway possible, and this was one of their inventions, along with other such as margureita making at $15 a throw and pushing the sales of the drinks buckets of buy 5 for 6 bottles. What ever next will they come up with, but I suppose there will always be some passengers who will be prepared to pay for such things and this is what NCL are out to exploit.

I am an Environmental Health Officer and have spent years inspecting kitchens and workplaces. Not exactly my idea of a holiday. Heaven help them if I spotted a cockroach or rodent droppings!

How much, they must be joking! I wouldn't mind paying for a behind the scenes tour but at a more realistic price. $150 for a seven hour tour, how ludicrous, most people will have seen enough after an hour. My advise is to get friendly with a member of the bar staff and get them to show you around for free!!

As a ship enthusiast, I would love the opportunity to see things like the engine room and bridge, even the kitchen. But the laundry? AND PAY $150!?! Not a chance! This is a disgraceful scam.
Desperately trying to make it into an "excursion" by having wine tasting emphasises the revenue-sapping greed of the operator.

When my wife and i went on our very first cruise we were given these tours, i thought it was all stopped for security reasons,if so does that mean paying for it lowers the security risk, confusing isn't it.are the cruise lines so strapped for cash,i suppose we will start paying a handling charge next for our luggage.

I think NCL should fall in line with other operators and offer free guided ships tours of behind the scenes. It is very interestring but should not be charged for.
