How this score is created
The Emerald has a varied mix of cabins in a wide range of configurations. There are six main categories: Premier, Superior Outside Plus, Superior Outside, Superior Inside (no view), Standard Outside, and Standard Inside (no view). If this is your first cruise, it would be wise to consider a cabin with a view (called an “outside” cabin) rather than one without a view, so that each morning when you get up, you’ll be able to see what the weather is like and dress accordingly, and you will be less disoriented in an unfamiliar setting.
Cabins are assigned at embarkation check-in unless you pay a supplement of £30 per cabin to pre-book (you can choose your preferred cabin from the deck plan. This method of assigning cabins on the day of embarkation (unless you pre-book, which I would strongly recommend) means that those who book first, and those who arrive first at the embarkation port, probably will get the best cabins, in the best locations. If this is your first cruise, choose a cabin close to the ship’s center, where it is likely to be less movement in inclement weather.
Many of the original cabins are quite spacious, with good closet and drawer space, while newer ones are a little more compact, and have poor insulation. Continental breakfast in your cabin will cost about $7.50 (£4.50) extra per person (each time). There is also a 24-hour cabin service menu for snacks, all of which cost extra.
