How this score is created

Sovereign of the Seas (sister to Majesty of the Seas and Monarch of the Seas) is a handsome ship with a well-balanced profile, nicely rounded lines and high superstructure, but the open deck space is not generous. The ship has a wide wrap-around outdoors polished wood deck, and there is a basketball court. The interior layout is a little awkward, as it is designed in a vertical stack, with most public rooms located aft, and the accommodation located forward (this helps to keep the noise level down in accommodation areas). There is an impressive array of spacious and elegant public rooms, although the decor definitely brings to mind the IKEA school of interior design.

There is the inevitable array of shops, with lots of tacky merchandise. Casino gamers will find blackjack, craps, Caribbean stud poker and roulette tables, plus an array of slot machines. A business facility includes a conference room and internet-connect center. Teen-only facilities now include a nightclub, a hangout lounge (The Living Room) and an open (aft) sundeck with open-air dance floor. The dress code is very casual.

This is basically a well-run, fine-tuned, highly programmed cruise product geared to those seeking an action-packed cruise vacation at a moderately good price, with lots of fellow passengers.
