Just back today off the lovely Grand Princess, we ended up getting there at 1:30 and the biggest queue we encountered was for the C&PS parking, the car queue was a good half hour. Once into the Mayflower terminal it was all of 10 minutes, the thing to watch for though is Coaches, if you see a couple of them going past you while queuing in the car then you have 140 people ahead of you! One quick tip though, the security doors once you have got your cruise card are both on the right and the left, everyone goes for the left, the one on the right looks like it is for staff only but it isnt, head right and you will be onboard far quicker. Hope that helps.

In June were arrived at 12.30 and by 1 o/c were in our cabin, sorry stateroom?!, having had our cases delivered, and unpacked and sat on balcony with a G & T. We were well impressed. Although the bumpf says don't get there before 1 there were people who had got on earlier than us.

Hello, we are sailing on the GP at the end of Aug. You mentioned having G&Ts on your balcony. Could you enlighten me please as to wether or not I will be allowed to embark with a couple of bottles of spirits in my luggage or would this cause an embarrassing problem at check in.

I sailed on Grand Princess in May from Southampton. Most times that I have cruised out of Southampton I have used the valet parking and how effortless that is! In May I arrived at the terminal at 1120, checked in and was in the departure lounge at 1140. Boarding commenced at midday for Elite and Platinum members that were waiting (platinum myself...) and then everyone else thereafter, literally minutes after as there weren't that many people waiting.

I'm going to Southampton next weekend to join the Grand Princess with valet parking. I'm aiming for about 1pm though it might be a tad earlier, I'll let you know how we get on!
