a QUESTION by Smith (29 Jan 10 14:02)
We have just returned from 2 weeks on Ventura in the Caribbean and room service is not all free. Some items you have to pay extra for and if i recall correctly the items that are available for room service all incur a charge after 11pm. The selection is very limited. Saying that though we had room service twice. Once for breakfast (continental only available) and once for afternoon tea and both were adequate.

You don't have to gain weight on a cruise. Just make sure you choose the right food. We never put wieght on but thats because we don't eat all that is on offer! I never eat a dessert other than fruit or suger free option, or do without. I never take the petit fours. Dont eat more than three courses if need be at dinner and choose the healthy option. Only ever eat in the main restaurant where you are served as the portions are measured and you cant be tempted to take something just because you think it looks good.
I always ask for extra vegetables as I love them and they fill you up. Plus I don't drink wine which I can hear a few moans now. The other thing we do is use the gym each day as we do this anyhow even on land and we walk always, and do not take the elevators. You can clock up some miles just walking about the ship. Plus a few good dances to burn off the calories or other exersice you will be OK.Enjoy your cruise whatever diet you follow!

Thank you guys {just in case the PC brigade is monitoring...ladies too} for all your comments. Figure of speech about eating all day but nice to know it literally means 24 hrs. Thanks Cooke from Ashby...I know it is technically not free but I use that term loosely...just wanted to know if I wanted 2 lunches or 3 dinners on the same day, they would allow me without having to charge me extra!! Ok again...please don't ask me why..I may or may not do that but good to know your options and no I do not want to be in the Guiness book of records!!!! Thanks though, how about the sail itself on the Ventura...people with mild motion sickness, will it be noticeable...if so I wouldn't be eating at all!!

It may not be humanly possible to eat all day - but you can try! (I will alert the Guiness book of records)

You can eat as much as you like as often as you like and yes i suppose you could call it free, but you have already paid for it in your cruise price. P S dont forget the calories, i put on 5 pounds on my last cruise.
