Q: We are comtemplating booking the Ventura for a caribb cruise in Feb. I can't find any deals at present and wonder if I should book direct with P & O or wait and see what comes on offer. Any advice out there? Thanks. Jill 6 answers

Even if you do miss the deadline tomorrow 30th, you will still have time to think about what type of cabin you want. Get a total cost of everthing you want including flights insurance etc in mind and stick to the price and then shop around the websites and the independant T/A's. Playing one off against another does not hurt.

Thanks for the advice. I am a bit fussy so probably best to pay a bit more for piece of mind. Looks like we've missed the early booking offers but then we only returned from our first cruise last month.

I maybe misled you a little earlier. The early booking incentives with P&O finish on June30, which is tomorrow, so you still have a little time....Brian

I am in agreement with those below too but I would say that the current market situation has generally allowed that the prices will drop and as P & O have no price promise to lower your purchased price to an offer price many people have wished that they had held on. Yes, you may not get exactly what you want but you might well do. In normal times I wouldn't advocate this policy but I currently maintain that there are so many ships out there that need filling that you should find it on another if your first choice is not what you wished for. ......Neil

I agree with Brian, don't book direct with P&O you will get a much better price if you use a cruise specialist like this one or one of the other cruising clubs. We are fussy and book early to get the grade of cabin we want, where we want and the dining sitting we want. If you don't mind you may get it cheaper if you wait nearer the time but you will not then have so much choice.

Usually booking direct with P&O is the dearest option. Use a cruise specialist TA like this one. The early booking discounts have now finished but it seems that discounts to fill the ship normally come on the market about 8-10weeks before departure so if you are flexible on dates you may be best to wait. With a fly cruise, the other problem you get is that flights from a particular airport may be fully booked, although the ship has spaces available and you may have to fly from another airport. However, Gatwick usually has at least two flights each for the Fri and Sat departures for Ventura so Gatwick is not normally a problem. At the end of the day you book now and get what you want or wait and possibly get it cheaper but then they may be all gone. Your choice....Brian
