I have'nt been on Ventura, but am going on a cruise in September. We too are in an inside cabin but if Ventura is anything like the other P & O ships you should be fine. We have never booked a balcolny because as you say you normally only spend part of the evening (getting ready) and at night (asleep) so as you say where,s the point in paying another £1000 for an outside with balcolny.

As everyone has said it is a matter of choice. I would never cruise without a balcony as we spend a lot of time out there, particularly if we are in a sunny climate. We sat out there in the Fjords, even when it was chilly, had fleeces on and sat and watched the scenery - magic. If you don't mind not having your own outside space then don't bother having one.

It is of course a matter of personal taste, but it can be a lot of money for something you don't use much. We like to be out and about and meeting people and money saved can be better spent elsewhere. Even in the fjords one gets a better view on the top deck - annoying if a school of whales passes on the port side and one's cabin is starboard.

It depends on your lifestyle I would only consider a balcony in the fjords the money saved means more shore excursions or whatever floats your boat as we spend as much time ashore as we can exploring the area then eating and shows it’s only sea days left but by the time we have been to the spar then swimming and sun bathing there is little time to spend in isolation on a balcony. I like to meet people can’t do that on a private balcony!
The other advantage of an inside is you can have a nap in the afternoon if you come back from an excursion early its pitch black with the light off.

It is a matter of choice and what is totally acceptable for one will be an anathema to another. I would say stay as you are and see if you like it or if you have real doubts upgrade now because later might be too late. .......Neil

When cruising in a warmer climate, I would only ever consider a balcony cabin. To be able to sit outside with a morning coffee or in the evening with a glass of good wine makes all the difference to the cruise. We find it is very relaxing, rather than having to go on deck for that outside space.

I can only echo Jean's comments (by the way, Jean, I've emailed my thanks for the brochures!) - I couldn't manage without a balcony just to be able to get some air at night, but sitting with a drink and watching the sea go by is delightful. However, it's clearly a matter of personal taste - though I couldn't ever cope without natural light, so would never book an inside cabin.

If you hardly used it last time you would probably not use it much the next time either!!! It might mean you can afford another cruise with the money you have saved!!!!
