We have sailed the carribean and Europe on the Ventura very happily. Childrens facilities ie;clubs were great.....and everyone we talked to with childern hardly saw them ,the entertainment was so good....lots of very happy kids around...including our grand children..who did not want to go home....WHAT MORE CAN I SAY.....

Complaint by elderly lady on OV: " The entertainmnt on this ship is too young". Response from the crew on the Reception Desk:- "How old are you madam? Ah 65 - I see. Read the brochure madam you are on the wrong ship!" Brilliant reply thinks me! I just hope Ventura can match OV as sail on 3rd July.

there are going to be a few of us that are going to have to try something different when the OV's go. Having been looking already, but nothing seems to compare and I for one do not want to go back to formal cruises. Please, when you come home, write a review comparing Ventura and OV2, many thanks

Hi Well I was on the same cruise as Morris, and on Haloween the hildrens club made all the kids up, it looked like they was having a ball, you dont see the kids much as they all go to the childrens clubs differant ones for differant ages, yes there are some pompous ones on board that think they own P&O but know the ships getting older the more pompous ones are going back to there own brand of ship, there has been a few reports that people have cruied 2-3 time now on her, so that must answer something, The ship is really nice decor and facilities, just go and make the holiday how you want it ,,, Brian

We did the Transatlantic on Ventura last October and I would say that she is indeed a relaxed family ship ......and is marketed as such I think! There are formal nights (but I think the semi formal have now been stopped) but there is alternative casual dining if thats what you prefer. We did see the children in organised activities and there is a sports area which was well used. I am sure someone who has actually taken children on board will be able to give you more information....our children are grown up so of course we don't take much notice of these things nowadays!

It's very subjective, depending who your read! You need to read a bunch of the reviews here are take an 'average' of the opinions. Personally I would of thought that a brand new state-of-the-art ship will easily beat OV (an ex-Ferry) in many aspects of the onboard operation.

I fear you've booboo'd, Malcolm. .............Launched 1988 as Sitmar Cruise Line's "FairMajesty", but taken over by Princess & re-named Star Princess before she ever sailed. Then bought by P&O & renamed Arcadia in 1997, then re-branded/re-named OV. A cruise ship from new - and think about it, that'd be one hell of a big ferry! ................No, not a patch on Ventura for whistles & bells, but like Spartan, we wuz happy. Grovelling apology awaited ...........regards, Chris

Ventura is a bit overweight for me & perhaps a bit too family-orientated. Or mebbe I've been lucky with reasonable kid-free cruises on OV (term-time). ..........Mebbe Thomson?? .......Someone on these pages promised to write a review after a cruise booked on P&Os Oceana, which seems to possibly suit - esp as there's a rumour (rumour, no more than that) that P&O were planning for her to be re-branded to the OV style. Thinking about it, Oceana to Ocean Village, half the signwriter's job is already done LOL .........Regards, Chris

Oceana and Ventura are for the Ocean Village style cruisers. This was obviously planned years in advance to be ready when Ocean Village goes.
