WHEN WE CRUISED THEY DID NOT ALLOW A PERSON IN JEANS IN DINING ROOM, THANK GOODNESS. I ENJOY DRESSING UP AT NIGHT FOR MY HUSBAND AND ESPECIALLY FOR TUSCANA AND POLO. BRING A LONG DRESS FOR ONE EVENING AND PLENTY OF FANCIER CLOTHES. BUT THAT IS JUST ME. I WOULD RATHER BE OVER DRESSED THEN UNDER! YOU WILL LOVE OCEANIA!

Depends how you define 'formally'. Apart from the night of the captain's cocktail party, you won't see many guys wearing a tie in the restaurants. And in 3 cruises I've not seen one DJ or white tux; I certinly didn't take any of mine. However, if you want to be at the smart end of 'smart casual' (as I did) then pack a light-coloured linen suit and/or tailored silk+linen slacks with a beautifully-cut blazer. Dress it up with a silk handkerchief, wear the smartest open-necked silk (or part-silk) shirt money can buy, and you won't be out of place. When dressing down a tad, I'd wear a silk Tommy Bahamas open-necked shirt with above-mentioned slacks. There's always going to be some slob in the Polo Grill or Toscana in jeans and boat shoes, but they then stick out as UNDER-dressed. Many women don't give a stuff for the sartorial rules and get dressed up to the nines anyway (but few floor-length dresses) - but then most women always do their own thing.

Most folk dress smart casual. Did see a young chap in jeans but many olders in suits. Most smart trousers and jacket, 60% ties (no, I didn't count). You can dress in a DJ, but would be slightly out of place. Mostly Americans on board, of course, and the gals dressed up more than the guys. Go for it, it is excellent! Let us know how you get on...

Yes, it's "allowed", but you won't see many DJ's if my experience in August is anything to go by, but you won't look out of place either in the 2 reservation required restaurants either.

Country Club Casual - no formal nights
