Ocean Village Cruises

Forget fixed feeding times, flexibility is what you really want on a holiday. So aboard Ocean Village you’re free to eat when it suits you-24/7- and not when someone tells you to. That’s not to say Ocean Village take a casual attitude to the food- far from it. Love eating alfresco? Then dine out by the pool at La Luna on freshly baked pizza with crunchy salads by day, and for a small charge, tempting specialists like marinated lamb kebabs, tiger prawns and fillet steaks at night. Take your pick of the top-deck buffet in Plantations for breakfast and lunch then go global for dinner, with everything from tempting Thai Curries to chicken with cashew nuts and classic international flavours to choose from. For the widest menu, pull up a chair in the Waterfront restaurant where alongside traditional favourites like roast beef, you’ll find signature Mediterranean dishes such as paella, moussaka and seafood provencale.

Book a table at The Bistro and give your taste buds a real treat with menus devised by the hot celebrity TV chef James Martin. Savour the heavenly delights of prosciutto with oven roasted tomatoes, mozzarella and basil or double-baked emmental soufflé drizzled with cream. The Bistro serves six main menus including two for vegetarians. Try the sweet, earthy flavours of pumpkin ravioli with sage and tomato butter or grilled field mushrooms topped with rarebit and ratatouille chutney. You might even find James cooking your dinner himself.

In the Waterfornt restaurant the tables are laid with wine glasses and cutlery wrapped in a white linen table napkin. (neither is it bland) Only waiter service is lacking though there are staff around who are there to help if needed plus drinks waiters. P&O have over 100years of history employing from Goa. They are delightful people whose english I have found often to be superior to some British. There is also a huge deck area across the stern behind the Plantation where you can eat your meal al fresco on teak tables and chairs with little lights. Most lines outside furniture is plastic.
