Hi we just got back off honeymoon I think one thing to look at is, how much time will you spend on the ship?
Are you going to go on a lot of their trips can be quite expensive, make your own way its cheaper but also remember you have to get back on time, my husband is disabled so we just used the ports buses to go into the small towns where we docked they were very nice but you might want more. If you want to spend a lot of time just chilling on the ship then go for ocean village, if not on the ship a lot then go with island escape, personally I had a deluxe cabin with balcony and without this I would have hated this ship as we did spend quite a bit of time on it due to my husbands disability, a balcony is always important for us with any holiday. The cabins are very small on island escape so again personal choice.
Weight up the cost of the 2 cruises, also the trips you wish to take and whether you are going to make your own way when at the ports.
Food wise very good no problems, also you can be quite casual so maybe after running around for the wedding you will just want to chill out on the ship which again would lead me to ocean village after being on island escape, personal choice really.

Hi we've just got back from our first ever cruise on the Escape. We too were worried when we read the reviews online but when we got onboard we were pleasantly surprised and had a really great time. Yes the ship is getting on a bit (but so too is Ocean Village) and could do with a refurb but she's well-maintained and clean. The cabins are big enough and you don't spend much time awake in them anyway. Relax and enjoy!
