Children are welcomed on board and families often choose to travel with several generations enjoying the cruise together, paticularly during the school holidays. Whilst it should be noted that the Fred. Olsen fleet do not have extensive features for children or dedicated staff to assist in their care, during the school summer holiday period and depending on how many children are on board, Balmoral in particular run a Junior Cruiser (for ages 5 - 12 years) and Teen Cruiser (for ages 12 - 18) Programme. These programmes will take the form of a welcome meeting whereby you will be invited to meet your fellow Teen or Junior passengers on board. The hostesses will give information on activities planned for the cruise ahead which may include daily quizes, deck quoits competition, movies. And for the younger children there will be craft activities, treasure hunts and movie nights. There is also a dedicated Children''s/family swimming pool on deck 11. This pool however is not guarded and therefore children must be supervised by either parents or guardians when using the pool. Also persons under 16 years are not allowed to use the jacuzzis.
With regard to Children''s meals, they are welcomed into the main dining rooms with their families and you may wish to choose the earlier sitting of 6.30 pm. However there is also the option of children eating in the Palms Cafe between 6.00 and 7.00 pm which is has a dedicated ''Kid''s Corner''.
